For the 40th issue, we wanted to take a temperature reading of what mattered to our amazing contributors. Since 2012, when we first launched the magazine, we have had the privilege of featuring a unique collection beautiful, compelling, challenging and thought provoking art from a huge array of artists. MASCULAR has engaged with contributors and readers from all over the world with a single mission, to celebrate masculine art and the men who create it. Our exploration of masculine themes and masculinity itself over these past 40 issues has been fascinating. We have learned that masculinity thrives in different forms and interpretations. That no single definition is adequate, and yet, that we all have our own sense of what it is.

The only way to manage the volume of excellent work was to create and publish two volumes. Volume 1 is artists whose last names begin with the letters A through J, and Volume 2 contains artists whose last names begin with the letter K through Z. We invite you to enjoy both volumes of this 40th issue – a look forward as much as it is a look back.
